San Diego 100 changes

From their new website, it looks like they’ve moved it from the Cleveland Natl Forest to Cuyamaca State Park due to threat of fire. It’ll now be 2 loops, and have a 50 mile option.

  1. Hey Andy,Since you mention the SD 100 here and a 50 mile option, here’s something one of the race directors sent me when I inquired about my friend running the 50 mile option…”If your friend (or anyone else for that matter) runs only 50 miles, they will be considered a “DNF” for this run, as this is a 100-mile run. There is no 50-mile run. There is only the option to drop out of our 100-mile run. There are no medals, no recognition, no nothing for running 50 miles.”Pat

  4. Yeah, thanks Pat for the clarification.I actually prefer they do it this way, unless they have a separate 50 mile entry. HURT and JJ both have a 100K option they actually give runners credit for, and does not count as a 100 mile DNF. I don’t agree with this method btw. My guess is that it’ll lower the finish rate at JJ, and is the reason why so few people finish the HURT — makes it too easy to drop.
