Blue Planet Run

On June 1st from New York City, a team of 20 “ordinary male and female athletes” will set out to cover 15,200 miles across 16 countries and 4 continents, running more than 150 miles/day around the clock.  They will finish 95 days later on September 4th back in New York City.  Their goal is to deliver an extremely urgent and important message: we can and must begin today to alleviate the catastrophic burden placed on over a billion people who, every day, must drink unsafe local water, or travel long distances on foot to search for safe water for themselves and their families.

My friend Dot Helling, who I first met in Costa Rica during the Coastal Challenge, will be among this group.  Please take a look at their website for more info and details about how you can help.  Also, mark your calendars when the runners are scheduled to run through your neighborhoods.  They’ll hit the west coast starting in SF on the first of August, then make their way down south, getting to Santa Barbara on the 4th, then LA on the 5th before heading east towards NV, UT, and CO.  Mark your calendars!
